Accountant

A health care practice group is looking to employ an Accountant to grow with the business currently expanding. You will take ownership of the full bookkeeping function up to trial balance and Asset Management within the organisation (procurement, depreciation, management). This in-office opportunity offers flexible working hours with the possibility to work hybrid from time to time once settled in.

Report to Finance and Business Manager

Full Bookkeeping Processing, Bank reconciliations, Creditor reconciliations, Debtor reconciliations
  • Financial Reporting to Business/Financial Manager for budgeting, forecasting and planning
  • Provide Financial Manager with information to support strategy and business needs
  • Managing the overall and day-to-day financial administration of the organisation
  • Manage Debtors: General invoices and payments follow up
  • Responsible for all payments within the organisation
  • Manage and recon GoodX billing in liaison with Practice Manager
  • Manage age-analysis for cash flow
  • Manage Creditors: Post invoices
  • Manage Creditors: Do monthly reconciliation and payments
  • Do general monthly payments
  • Post, re-conciliate and journalise entries from GoodX onto Pastel
  • Detailed monthly monitoring of GoodX, to ensure accurate posting and follow up and investigate any deviations or anomalies
  • Follow up all credits and journals on GoodX
  • Recon GoodX age analysis back to different reports
  • Daily and weekly follow up per diary to ensure correct invoicing by therapists admin and take action if not up to date or incomplete
  • Assist Financial and Business Manager with information for financial statements
  • Manage month-end journals
  • Manage provisions
  • Manage diverse expenditure
  • Month-end journals, provisions, diverse, etc.
  • Compile monthly income statement
  • Cost allocations report for all overhead expenditure and allocate per branch
  • Compile statistics of clinicians
  • VAT reconciliation and reporting, calculation and payments, submit on E-filing
  • Review and reconciliate daily and monthly cash up
  • Review and reconciliate petty cash of all branches
  • Manage expenditure against budget
  • Determine break-even tariff / expense ratio
  • Determine and recommend tariff rates
  • Do financial investigation and verification of reduced fee applications in liaison with Organisational Manager and Practice Manager
  • Compile a summary report of each reduced fee application
  • Facilitate meetings with clinicians regarding their clients request for reduced fees
  • Provide written feedback to the client regarding their application for reduced fees
  • Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit
  • Work with Financial Manager to develop monthly capturing for financial statements
  • Do estimate for provisional tax calculation
  • Prepare detailed year-end folder and journals for Financial Manager
  • Manage NDCs annual registrations and the administrative functions related to registrations
  • Review draft audit statements
  • Manage E-filing PAYE
  • Manage U-filing
  • Manage IRP 5 reconciliations (6 month and full year)
  • Manage TERS
  • Manage UI 19 forms as needed
Ensure effective overall asset management within the organisation
  • Ensure that asset register is kept up to date
  • Manage fixed asset register
Procurement
  • Do monthly monitoring of printing and stationery
  • Implement and manage bulk buying of stationery and other office utilities
  • Set up the system
  • Develop procurement system and process and communicate to branches
  • Monitor usage in branches
  • Address any inappropriate spending, savings mechanisms, etc. via team leaders and branch manager as well as Friday meetings
  • Facilitate financial sessions or training with identified personnel members or clinicians
RequirementsMatric

Financial Qualification Degree

At least 5 years solid experience working experience as an accountant

Experience on Pastel and Pastel PayrollUnderstanding of health sector would be beneficial

Fluent in English and Afrikaans

Friendly, approachable

Taking ownership of duties and responsibilities
