Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Execute Customs entries for assigned shipments, appropriately and efficiently and ensure compliance with Country regulations.
  • Accurately assigning specific HS Codes to items being declared to customs department
  • Tracking shipments using customs and other tracking tools to ensure clearance is done accordingly as per the KPI
  • Review and verify charges issued by third-party vendors on active shipments to ensure theyre applicable and accurate before proceeding with payments.
  • Raise tickets to finance department and follow through to ensure payments are done on time to avoid clearance delays of assigned shipments
  • Update status of active shipments on SS report based on the clearance progress
  • Proper archiving of cleared shipments to maintain records for potential internal & external audits
  • Oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, and shipping of cargo
  • Manage office inventory and conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy.
  • Preparation of SADC Certificates and follow ups with SARS
  • Preparation of Quotations and follow ups.
  • Follow up with border agents to make sure there is a swift movement of the cargo between borders
  • Collaborate with the planning team to schedule shipments and monitor delivery timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, shipments, and export activities.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff when loading and off-loading, ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards and avoiding damage to all related cargo.
  • Resolve any issues related to inventory discrepancies or shipment delays.
  • PO Creations on SAP
  • Lodging applications for COC, BV Inspection and Road worthy certifications
  • Following up on client queries with SARS
  • Proper invoicing to clients
  • Other assigned tasks
Education & Skills
  • Bachelors degree in related field (Freight Forwarding / Logistics)
  • Knowledge on clearance of cargo under different regimes in South Africa
  • At least 1 year experience executing customs declarations using ShipShape & Alesco
  • Clear understanding of Customs Laws and Regulations applicable in South Africa
  • Proper use of Microsoft Office tools (Especially Excel)
Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:20 AM 4:20 PM, and Alternate Saturdays, 8:00 AM 12:00 PM.
