Responsibilities
- Preparing a patient for theatre.
- Scrubbing in theatre.
- Floor nurse in theatre.
- Ensuring all theatres, scrubs, drapes & instruments are sterile and prepared for surgery.
- Ensuring the sluice room and clean store are kept in order.
- Administrative and record keeping.
- Drug register.
- Patient dressings and wound care.
- If not busy in theatre, assist with clinical work in the front office section.
- Possesses relevant experience in a similar healthcare setting, preferably in theatre.
- Demonstrates excellent clinical knowledge, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Exhibits strong communication skills, compassion, and empathy towards patients and their families.
- Displays a commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with current best practices in nursing.
- Holds an active and valid nursing license and must be fully registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
