Core Description

Responsible to identify business requirements based on current and future business initiatives, direction and goals within current and future system functionality. Initiate changes within the system, according to the business requirements, ensuring the understanding and the input from business throughout the process prior to initiating the change request process. Ensure the understanding of the change, facilitating the business throughout the process as to ensure accurate and understandable requirements prior to design and build acceptance. Understand the business change, assess the impact of those changes, capture, analyse and document the requirement and then support the communication, testing and delivery of those requirements with the relevant parties.

Job Responsibilities
  • Liaise with business, this includes the following; ensure close cooperation with business at all time
  • Understand business processes and changing needs; consult with business on aligning business process to delivered functionality
  • Ensure the use of delivered functionality and understanding the shortfalls within the system and establishing workarounds where possible
  • Streamline business processes by suggesting changes within the process prior to suggesting costly changes within the system
  • Facilitate Business during the change process by establishing the need for changes within the system or Telkom process
  • Align changes to the standards of the company and ensure the changes align to the architectural view of the company current and future
  • Support business during the change request process as to ensure the documentation and process is followed within the Telkom guidelines and policies
  • Assist business, if needed, to explain or present the change at the ICCF
  • Facilitate architecture in the following way; explain current and future application functionality
  • Facilitate with integration design between upstream and downstream systems
  • Ensure understanding regarding current and future change requests that will and could influence future Architectural initiatives
  • Prompt Architecture on any business requirement that could influence design or planned initiatives
  • Ensure early reporting to Architecture on risks related to any changes/ initiatives that could negatively influence business
  • Design the deliverables which includes the following; attend start up meetings related to any changes or launce of new products
  • Deliver signoff design deliverables and ensure that documentation is within the Telkom specifications
  • Ensure that designs are within the best interest of the Client, Telkom, business and IT and that the change receives the required importance within the release schedule
  • Ensure the design documents clearly stipulate the requirements as per the request by business
  • Deliver Functional Specifications according to the Telkom specification which includes the following, facilitate and review functional specifications delivered by other Business Analysis's within the team
  • Facilitate and review Functional specifications delivered by other Business Analysis's outside of the team and the functional specification with the person responsible for the technical design
  • Facilitate and review the functional specification with the responsible developers and ensure the change receives the required importance within the release schedule as stipulated by business
  • Write technical specification (FDS/TDS) when required for designs with small impact
  • Adhere to high level technical implementation and sign off on technical specifications related to changes initiated or functional specifications
  • Write high level test requirements for cases and functional design changes and write high level test cases for integrated testing between application and other systems

  • Facilitate in the training of the testers to understand the requirements, the system integration and message flows between the systems
  • Facilitate, when needed, by conducting testing scenarios
  • Defect Analysis during the testing and implementation process
  • Post implementation: Facilitate with user requirement documentation; facilitate support/ implementation team during release of the software; facilitate with queries, problems or process changes post implementation; defect analysis post implementation and ensuring the use of functionality after the release
  • Report on business needs to management and architecture, progress required on documentation, on known problems with designs and progress related to changes or fixes related to designs and on failures successful implementation of functionality
