My client in the banking industry is looking for a Card Manager.

The Perfect Candidate Will Be
  • Responsible for the product management of the Bank's full card product range as well as all associated services and activities, including assist in defining the product strategy, portfolio performance and client experience to support of the revenue pillars:
  • Business and Commercial Banking
  • Alliance Banking
  • Retail Banking -Treasury and Trade Finance & Forex
  • Corporate Banking
  • The Candidate will also provide guidance on card compliance issues, as set by the card associations in partnership with the Bank's compliance functions.
Product Development
  • The candidate must have a working knowledge of card schemes operating in South Africa, including familiarity with commercial models, technical, new product initiation, value added services and all association requirements. Will be the business lead in the development of all new card and associated products and capabilities.
  • Have a working knowledge of card types (credit, debit, prepaid, virtual, gift), EMV (chip and PIN), Contactless, tokenization, digitization, risk mitigation and eCommerce functionality.
Product Management
  • Responsible for the end-to-end management of all card and related product capabilities. This will include representing the client at various Industry meetings relating to the Card, as well as reporting on the Bank's card performance internally and externally. Use market insights, customer data and customer feedback to improve the product offering.
The Manager Is Responsible For
  • Product development lead
Operational Product Management Including
  • BIN management
  • Defining the operational process for Card Stock Management, to be undertaken by Operations. Process improvement and automation, including the chargeback process
  • Lead support in the enablement and ideally automation of the process to efficiently manage Alliance Banking card requirements.
  • The candidate will be the subject manner expert on all card issuing relating queries within the bank.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the end-to-end conceptualisation, delivery and management of a compelling set of card products and capabilities to the market, in line with the Bank's various segment strategies and value propositions.
  • Ensure the product value proposition meets client needs and is competitive in the marketplace
  • Provide expert support in the acquisition or development of new card programs in the Alliance Banking business
  • Conduct market research to gain insight into client needs
  • Partner with Marketing and Channel teams to drive new card sales
  • Work with Finance/Risk to evaluate the performance of the card portfolio and identify opportunities
  • Monitor client feedback and drive best in class client experience
  • Impact on Business Results
  • Directly impacts the achievement of the overall financial performance of the Bank via fee income and indirectly via NII and margin management.
  • Directly impacts on all key performance metrics of the Bank including customer service and experience, reputation, brand, compliance and risk, etc.
  • Ability to produce documentation to support and detail new and existing projects in the payment environment.
  • Provide detailed insight into both domestic and international card payment streams.
  • Facilitates the communication between business and IT, on Card related change requests or enhancements.
  • Assist in developing new product offerings, and the suitable card offering to support the banking product.
  • Share the responsibility for the successful integration of Alliance Partners into the payments landscape.
  • High communication skills required at all levels. Must be able to interact with senior leadership. Excellent command of verbal and written communication (English). Effective presentation style for all levels of stakeholders.
  • Strong problem solving, decision making, issue analysis and resolution skills.
  • Highly organized.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities with internal clients.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced multicultural global work environment.
