Role Purpose:

Provide the strategic direction for the development and evolution of Momentum Investments outcomes-based investment philosophy whilst championing and ensuring the integrity of the investment process in terms of implementation of said investment strategies, products and portfolios in order to achieve Momentum Investments and MMHs strategic objectives.

Requirements
  • Postgraduate degree in Investments Management, Finance, Actuarial Science, Quantitative or Risk Management
  • Certified Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
  • 10-15 years investment management experience of which 5 years had to have been on senior leadership level.
  • Demonstrable and strong leadership capability
  • Experience and exposure to portfolio management across a variety of products, markets and industries and a substantial track record of investment performance.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a strong multi management background and depth in experience in Systematic Strategies and Alternative Investments.
Duties & Responsibilities

Drive the implementation of the OBI philosophy (Internal Process):
  • Drive the implementation and optimisation of the investment operating model to ensure the business is supported by the appropriate investment capabilities.
  • Manage the investment forums to ensure investment capabilities and initiatives are appropriately prioritized and aligned to the investment philosophy.
  • Champion the Investment philosophy across MMH and within the external investment community in order to foster greater understanding and buy-in to the philosophy.
  • Provide the strategic direction for the translation of the investment philosophy into investment strategies, products and solutions.
  • Oversee the setting of the investment research agenda to determine clients financial wellness needs, competitor landscape and investment best practice and benchmarks.
  • Drive the implementation and optimisation of investment solutions in line with client, segment and shareholder targets.
  • Drive the achievement of growth targets, management of margins and expenses of the respective investment portfolios.
  • Contribute to Momentum Investments decision making structures (ICs, Portfolio Solutions Policy Group etc.) to ensure that the investment philosophy is embedded and implemented.
  • Lead and provide the strategic direction for engagements with critical or influential stakeholders and strategic partnerships to effectively position MI, MMH and its investment philosophy.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage off strategic relationships and alliances to build new investment or growth opportunities.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness and performance of investment strategies, products and solutions and identify areas of opportunity that will enhance the client experience and profitability.
  • Present investment reports and insights to executive forums to provide senior management with a view of investment performance in relation to industry benchmarks and client, shareholder and segment expectations.
  • Lead investment projects or perform consulting or strategic management support.
  • Take full owenrship of the investment team and outputs as well as provide governance and oversight over the team.
Drive a client centric environment that focuses on best practice service delivery (Client Services):
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to sustaining a competitive edge through external networking and benchmarking and representation on related forums.
  • Define fair and innovative client service practices which build rewarding relationships and allows the team to provide exceptional client service.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to identify changing client needs and make recommendations to align service offering with client needs.
  • Contribute to a client service excellence culture which builds enduring relationships and allows team to provide exceptional client service.
  • Drive efforts to improve client service and fair treatment of clients within area of responsibility.
  • Incorporate client feedback into the enhancement of daily business processes and management operating systems.
  • Participate and contribute to a culture which builds rewarding relationships, facilitates feedback and provides exceptional client service.
Effectively lead team (People):

Manage budget and implement sound financial controls:
