IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this mine of the future. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.
Suitable candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
- Diploma in Construction Management or Construction Supervision Certificate
- Project Management qualification
- Preferred: Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Project coordination and contractor management
- Strong leadership and people management
- Technical report writing; problem-solving and decision-making
- Knowledge of civil engineering and earthworks, including shaft civils
- Understanding of quality management systems and SOP compliance
- Ability to read technical drawings and set out work
- Commitment to skills transfer and mentoring
- 10 years experience in construction with a focus on civil and earthworks
- Experience on mining projects, particularly shaft sinking
- Proven experience overseeing contractors and sub-contractors
- Preferred: Experience in vertical shaft sinking civils
- Preferred: Exposure to mining projects
- Implement and manage the safety plan in line with MHSA Sections 22 & 23 and construction regulations
- Oversee daily civil and earthworks activities, managing contractors and sub-contractors
- Develop and maintain the quality management plan and conduct quality control checks
- Ensure compliance with project SOPs and quality standards
- Manage materials, resolve technical queries, and participate in contractor progress meetings
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and skills transfer to the team
- Address discipline and IR issues effectively
- Monitor and control project expenditure and identify cost-saving initiatives
- Prepare and submit accurate progress reports
- Lead vertical shaft barrel civil practices
