Civil Quality Engineer

The purpose of this position is to oversee all Civil Construction work to check compliance to applicable Standards, Designs and Specifications and the Quality Management Plan. The person will conduct a surveillance level of inspection to ensure full compliance of project requirements.

Responsibities

• Inspect excavations, foundations, roads and hardstands, storm water measures and buildings during and after construction for quality, general safety and conformance to design, specifications and standard codes.
• Review and interpret drawings, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.
• Monitor civil and construction activities to ensure that all work is performed properly and is in compliance with applicable regulations.
• Inspect and monitor the construction site to ensure adherence to safety standards, building codes, and specifications.
• Measure dimensions and verify position, level, alignment, and elevation of structures and fixtures to ensure compliance to planning approvals, design, construction drawings and codes.
• Maintain daily logs and supplement inspection records with photographs.
• Report progress and issues to the project manager and provide written assessment on inspection.
• Follow relevant IMS requirements, contribute to the effectiveness of IMS through participation, communication and consultation

Necessary knowledge and skills

• Experience in Civil design (roads, storm water, sewer reticulation)
• Experience in structural design (concrete and/or steel) is advantageous;
• Working experience with AUTOCAD, Civil Designer, Civil 3D, Prokon, Strand 7 and other structural design software is advantageous;
