Contracts Engineer - Johannesburg

Minimum Requirements

Government Certificate of Competency (Mines and Works)

BEng or equivalent Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or

National Diploma: Mechanical / Electrical Engineering

Minimum 10 years experience in all mining engineering related fields

Previous appointment as a 2.13.1 appointee

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

Equipment installation, operation & maintenance in underground shaft sinking, conventional & trackless mining sections

Knowledge in Asset Management systems and implementation thereof

Knowledge around trackless OEMs (Sandvik, Normet, Epiroc, Volvo)

Vertical shaft operations & maintenance

Winders & ancillary equipment installation, operation, and maintenance

Construction & erection of structures & infrastructure

Construction & project management

Oversight into electrical and mechanical systems

Structural & Civil knowledge

Strategic and analytical project evaluation

Conversant with Mine Health and Safety Act as well as recent directives and legislation

Roles & Responsibilities

Implementation of a functional Asset Management system

Update GCE (General Contractors Equipment) with current & new prices of equipment

Assist and/or draft method statements for projects

Assist and/or draft and implement project schedules

Site establishment & commissioning of equipment

Quality control of equipment from suppliers
