Description Of The Role And Purpose Of The Job
The primary purpose of this role is to support the KPMG Risk Management team by conducting online research and preparing comprehensive background reports to facilitate internal client onboarding and risk assessment procedures. Additionally, the position involves providing day-to-day assistance to the line manager and team members to ensure smooth operational workflow.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct in-depth research on current and prospective clients and suppliers using publicly available sources and subscription-based third-party research tools, applying structured research methodologies to ensure accuracy and relevance.
Prepare background check reports in various formats, ensuring accuracy, consistency and timely delivery within established deadlines.
Support the reporting line manager and senior team members with routine daily tasks and administrative duties.
Escalate queries to the reporting manager (where appropriate).

Minimum requirements to apply for the role (including qualifications and experience):
Matric or a Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
Minimum of 3 years experience conducting research and preparing reports, with a strong focus on Know Your Customer (KYC) processes and compliance.
Proficient in MS Office and Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT).
Familiar with third-party compliance tools.
Sound knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) compliance, including the ability to identify sanctions, politically exposed persons (PEPs), ultimate beneficial ownership (UBO) within corporate group structures, and other potential risk factors that may impact KPMGs ability to engage with a client.
Studying towards a BCom (Bachelor of Commerce), Bachelor of Journalism (BJ) or a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. Alternatively, a Diploma preferably in Risk Management, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance, or Forensic investigations.
