Data Engineer

Smollan is seeking a highly skilled professional, crucial for tackling complex data challenges and contributing to the design and implementation of robust data solutions. You'll work collaboratively within our dynamic Data Engineering team, leveraging your strong technical expertise in data engineering principles and practices. This includes a solid understanding of data management fundamentals, data storage principles, and the seamless integration of data from various sources.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Relevant IT Diploma or Degree/NQF level 7
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
• Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) (Advantageous)

Minimum Experience:

• 3 - 5 years plus experience within a data engineering or related field
• BI experience with Microsoft SQL using SSAS, SSIS, SSRS
• Hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL Database, and related Azure data services

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Deep knowledge of Azure data platform (Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Azure Data Lake/Fabric) and ETL/ELT design
• Highly proficient in the use of the MSQL Server (TSQL), MS Visual Studio (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS), Azure SQL and Azure Synapse
• Knowledge of, and in-depth understanding of Data Warehousing principles, ERP Systems, data modelling and reporting tools
• Highly analytical with problem solving skills
• Troubleshooting ability with the ability to develop logical solutions to fit situations and expectations and/or follow specifications
• Ability to learn and adapt to change in a high paced rapidly changing environment
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
