People Lead (Part Time)

DataEQ uses social media and other customer feedback data to help our clients (large enterprise brands) generate better CX insights, manage risk, improve conduct reporting and optimise social customer service. Data is at the heart of what we deliver, so our work requires a strong understanding of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, as well as the ability to structure data in innovative ways to address clients business problems.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced People Lead to take on a strategic role within our business. You will be working closely with our Exco and Leadership team to manage and optimise our employees engagement and experience with us. You will have a lot of support from our People Operations Assistant which will allow you to focus on strategic work within the people space. You will be a thinking partner to our leaders by guiding their decision making and ensuring all the right structures are in place to ensure our employees thrive.

As you are a fully remote company, we are looking for someone who can work independently whilst collaborating and connecting with our team members based in multiple locations in South Africa and around the world.

We are looking for a People Lead who is able to work for us part-time (4-5 hours per day) as our team is relatively small (65 people). You will be required to attend our weekly Leadership Meeting (1 hour), a weekly 1-1 with the CEO/MD and other ad hoc meetings throughout the week but these meetings will be scheduled in advance and around your availability. We understand our People Lead may have other commitments so we expect proactive and open communication to ensure our team are getting the support required, whilst you are able to attend to your other commitments.

WHAT YOULL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Employee wellness
  • Creatively seeking opportunities to support and encourage our teams physical, mental and emotional wellbeing
  • Running an annual Wellness Month
  • Managing our external wellness partners
  • Creating awareness and support around mental health for our employees
Learning and Development
  • Identifying skills gaps within the business and ensuring our teams have the capabilities required to support the business growth
  • Identifying external training opportunities to support the needs of our team
  • Supporting leadership development through coaching and mentoring
  • Managing the development of our leaders when and if required
Employee Experience
  • Conducting bi-annual employee surveys to gauge opportunities to improve as an employer of choice
  • Reporting to the Exco and Leadership Team on the feedback received by our employees via the survey
  • Managing the anonymous survey inbox to ensure our employees feel they have a safe space to raise any concerns
Performance
  • Managing the performance of our team members via our internal performance management software
  • Supporting our leadership team with any performance related challenges and discussions
Recruitment
  • Working with line managers to ensure they are going to market for the right roles and skills
  • Working with the line managers to screen candidates
  • Interviewing candidates when and if required
Organisational design
  • Ensuring the right people structures are put in place to support the business growth
  • Designing role descriptions and going to market with new roles when required
Compliance & Reporting
  • With the support of the People Operations Assistant, ensure all reporting is complete to the Department of Labour and SETAs when required
  • Compile reports or draft people policies as and when requested by the business
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • 10+ years experience within the people / HR industry
  • Experience working with leadership and executive team members
  • Coaching experience advantageous
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read a situation and adjust your approach according to the multiple factors at play
  • Strategic thinking
  • Approachable, warm and empathetic energy
  • Ability to be flexible and to be able to dance in the moment
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Able to meet our team members in person monthly to build trust and connection
  • Located in Cape Town is preferred
