ENVIRONMENT:
Our client, a prominent web hosting company, positions itself as a business enabler, driving economic growth by facilitating online interaction and transactions for the broader business market. They are currently seeking a Junior Linux Systems Administrator to join their dedicated Systems Administration team, specializing in troubleshooting and resolving issues on their extensive Linux-based hosting infrastructure. A minimum of 1 year basic Linux System Administration experience including LAMP stack is required.
DUTIES:
- Troubleshoot Linux systems in response to system alerts
- Identify trends to enable proactive system improvements
- Escalate issues to and work alongside Linux admin teams
- Ensure the contact centre is kept up to date to be able to keep customers well informed as to the status of an issue
- Provide out of business hours support
- Actively participate in continuous improvement within the team
- Matric Pass or Equivalent
- A minimum of 1 year basic Linux System Administration experience including LAMP stack
- Willingness to work shifts
- Advantageous: Helpdesk or technical support experience
- Methodical and accurate
- Customer centric (although not customer-facing)
- Linux system troubleshooting skills
- Shell scripting
- Excellent troubleshooting & problem solving
- Good communicator
