Job Purpose
We are seeking a self-motivated Consultant / Freelancer to provide Patient Navigator services for clinical trials in South Africa. This is an independent contract role ideal for a Dietitian or nutritionist with clinical research experience who wants to work remotely on a project basis.
In this role, you will perform a range of services to support patients in their clinical trial journey, including retention support, eligibility pre screening, and acting as a liaison between patients and clinical sites.
Scope of Services
- Participant Support & Retention
- Remote Support: Provide live inbound and outbound support to participants and caregivers via phone, email, and web chat.
- Barrier Resolution: Engage participants to address barriers to participation, answer questions about the study protocol/visit schedule, and provide emotional support.
- Emergency Triage: Recognize and triage queries requiring emergency services or immediate clinical site input.
- Prescreening Services
- Eligibility Calls: Conduct outbound calls to patients referred via digital campaigns within 1-2 business days to determine initial eligibility using a scripted checklist.
- Site Scheduling: Schedule eligible referrals for site visits and monitor their status through to final eligibility determination.
- Data Entry: Accurately record outcomes and manage tickets within the helpdesk platform.
- Stakeholder Communication
- Site Liaison: Build relationships with study sites to motivate recruitment and follow up on referrals.
- Reporting: Submit summary reports of activities and query resolutions to the project management team.
- Professional Qualification: Must be a Registered Dietitian with registration.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant Clinical Research experience.
- Regulatory: Current GCP certification (training can be provided).
- Tech Stack: Proficient in Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Meet), MS Office, and comfortable navigating helpdesk/ticketing systems.
- Setup: Must have a dedicated home office and high-speed internet connection suitable for VoIP calls.
- Language: High proficiency in English (for reporting/training) and Africans (for patient interaction).
- Status: This is a freelance/consultant engagement. You will be responsible for your own taxes/invoicing as per local regulations for independent contractors
- Availability: Services are to be provided during normal business hours. Specific availability will be confirmed prior to the commencement of the study.
- Training: Detailed training on services and protocols is provided upon onboarding (compensated as per agreement).
