IT Intern

Role Summary

The IT Intern will work under the guidance of Service Desk Engineers and other senior IT professionals, providing first-level support to end-users, manage help desk queries, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure optimal system performance.

Qualifications
  • Minimum: Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4
  • Advantageous: Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience
  • No experience required.
  • Prior experience in a technical support role would be advantageous.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Awareness of company policies and procedures.
  • Understand business ethics and values.
  • Understand company structure and reporting lines.
  • Understand business processes and procedures.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal (English).
Responsibilities

Operational:
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues for end-users via phone, email, or in-person.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to users regarding computer systems, software applications, and network connectivity.
  • Help deploy and configure desktops, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members to prioritise and escalate support tickets according to established procedures.
  • Document support activities, resolutions, and procedures to maintain an accurate knowledge base.
  • Assist with user account management tasks such as account creation, password resets, and access permissions.
  • Participate in IT projects and initiatives under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Contribute to the improvement of IT processes and workflows by providing feedback and suggestions based on firsthand experiences.
