Job Description Summary
Monitoring and respond promptly to incidents relating to our international core Internet backbone. Perform first pass troubleshooting, log faults with the relevant 3rd party vendors and provide accurate feedback to the business. Liaise with in country service providers and following the vendors escalation process to ensure a speedy resolution to incidents. Analysing vendors reason for outage reports and keeping record of events. Collaborating extensively with peers and other teams within the business to drive problem resolution and contribute to a growing knowledge network.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Administration and Management of existing core infrastructure.
- Monitor and maintain Core Network uptime.
- Enhancements of functionality for relevant infrastructure.
- First pass fault analysis; Scheduled network maintenance, owning CHM
- All documentation on the environments such Capacity Management,
- Providing monthly reports on all aspects of the NOC environment. This
- Assist internal personnel with general enquiries; Dealing with our 3rd
- Basic routing and switching
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Understanding use of central Resource Management Tool - Service Now.
- Knowledge of Cisco Prime Optical (Optical Networking Services) and Infinera Digital Network Administrator
- Logic Monitor - Secure, cloud-based monitoring platform.
- Ability to communicate and work across different cultures and social groups.
- Ability to plan activities and projects well in advance and takes into account possible changing circumstances.
- Ability to maintain a positive outlook at work.
- Ability to work well in a pressurized environment.
- Ability to work hard and put in longer hours when it is necessary.
- Ability to apply active listening techniques such as paraphrasing the message to confirm understanding, probing for further relevant information, and refraining from interrupting.
- Should have a valid CCNA/CCNP
- Should have routing and switching experience.
- Must understand Infinera DNA, and Cisco Transport Controller
- Must understand IPDB and SOS
- At least 2 years experience in a networking environment
- A theoretical and practical understanding and knowledge of networking topologies and TCP/IP is required.
- The candidate should have working knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, computer network architecture, routing protocols, specifically TCP/IP
- The candidate must be a self-starter who is prepared to work in a dynamic team environment where the latest technologies are deployed.
