Job description

Ekapa is situated in Kimberley in the Northern Cape province of South Africa, near the Free State border. Ekapa Mining is the 100% owner of Ekapa Resources and Ekapa Minerals. Ekapa Resources is the owner of the underground mining rights and Ekapa Minerals is the owner of the surface mining rights. It is operated as one entity and comprises five units, namely Joint Shaft, Wesselton, Combined Treatment Plant (CTP), Surface Mining, and Services and Support.

Job description:
Plan, execute, monitor, and coordinate project activities to ensure projects are delivered on time to ensure equipment availability according to production requirements. This position is based at Joint Shaft.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Plan and organise resources (including consumables and raw materials) and coordinate resources within the designated area of responsibility to deliver projects to support production requirements.
• Determine schedules, assign work, and manage the performance of assigned personnel to ensure the achievement of projects.
• Identify deviations or non-conformances, plan and implement corrective actions to ensure attainment of plans.
• Implement the organisation's risk management plan, schedule risk assessments, and draw up action plans to minimise or eliminate operational risks.
• Interpret, develop, and implement immediate and short-term operational objectives and action plans to achieve the mining and business strategy.
• Responsible for overseeing the installation, and successful handover of projects to the operation and maintenance teams.
• Assist the maintenance teams with major repair work to prevent recurring failures.
• Communicate equipment information and changes to relevant stakeholders to minimise production delays.
• Coordinate and monitor projects to ensure adherence to plan and achieve production timelines.
• Responsible for the evaluation of team effectiveness as well as the training and development of subordinates.
• Required to work overtime, do standby, and be available for callouts.
• Ensure implementation and adherence to the Mines Health Safety and Environmental COPs, policies, procedures, and legal requirements within the area of responsibility.

Minimum Requirements:

• N2 Certificate
• Recognised Trade Test (Section 13/26D)
• 5 years Engineering Foreman experience in a project environment
• Valid Drivers License Code (EB)
• Computer Literate
• Project management skills

Advantageous:

• Competent supervisory training
• Experience with Jaw Crusher, Conveyor belts, Dust Plants, Winders, Rock breakers, Positive displacement pumps, Compressors, Overhead cranes, placing of concrete, installing box fronts, installing tips and Grizzleys, and general infrastructure maintenance.
