KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Conducting online domain name, company, trade mark and social media searches
- Conducting searches of both local and foreign Trade Mark / Patent Journals for advertised trade marks
- Comparing trade marks identified in searches with clients trade marks
- Ability to draft correspondence and watch notices accurately
- Deadline and email management
- Handling of scanning, printing and copying of documents
- Maintaining an effective administration and filing system, including on the IP Management database
- Establishing good working relationships with professionals and other support staff in the team
- Trade mark experience will be advantageous
- Knowledge of trade mark classification and comparison of trade marks for confusing similarity will be advantageous
- Experience in the Patricia software package (or a similar software package) will be advantageous
- Competent in computer packages, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel
- Strong administration and organisational skills
- Ability to use initiative and be proactive in identifying potential conflicts with clients trade marks and following up to ensure instructions are received
- Strong attention to detail and excellent typing skills
- Strong written and spoken communication skills in English
- A team player, professional, flexible, reliable, proactive and friendly
- Sense of absolute confidentiality, urgency and ability to work under pressure
- Flexible and mature approach with ability to work unsupervised
- Bright, confident personality with high emotional intelligence
- High energy levels
- Matric/Senior certificate
- At least 3 years working experience in the trade mark field
