Your Mission, Roles And Responsibilities

Job title: HSE Graduate

Location: Pretoria

Reporting to: HSE Manager

Contract: 12 Months

Closing Date: 04 June 2025


Main purpose of the role

The HSE Graduate is responsible for guiding management regarding HSE processes and requirements to ensure legal compliance per legislation and the application of the Groups HSE policy and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities And Duties

As a HSE Graduate, your main responsibilities are as follow:
  • Assist in collecting data for FR1T, FR2T etc and report such on a monthly basis to HSE CoOrdinator.
  • Monitor and manage the distribution of Transversal memos throughout the plant and ensure that they are signed and recorded both on the system and in the file.
  • Encourage and enforce reporting of all incidents using the near miss/ incident report form.
  • Assist in facilitating training sessions and provide training where needed within the plant.
  • Facilitate committee meetings throughout the year.
  • Taking of minutes during HSE Committee meetings.
  • Monitor HSE & Security PDCAs.
  • Assist in conducting Audits in all areas of the plant including OHSAS 18001 Audits.
  • Monitor and manage the use of general PPE in all areas of the plant.
  • Prepare filing and ensure that document control is also respected and followed on a daily basis.
  • Handle IOD enquiries from Department of Labour.
  • Issue permits where needed on the line.
  • Manage and continue to improve the current HSE Training centre.
  • Assist in all other issues related to HSE that may not be specified in the job description.
  • Report all HSE & Security related inconsistencies to HSE & Security coordinator on a daily basis.
  • Administer and manage HSE improvement ideas submitted.
Your profile and competencies to succeed

Qualifications And Position Requirements
  • Education: National diploma in Industrial/ Mechanical Engineering or National diploma equivalent qualification in HSE Management or relevant field or HSE short courses from an accredited institution.
  • Knowledge and experience :
  • Knowledge of HSE tools and methods : AMDEC, 5 why methodology, job instruction, audits, ISO 14001, OSHAS 18000
  • Proven written and oral communication skills at all levels with good coordination abilities
  • Established teamwork principles with outstanding business operational ethics
  • Two to four years of experience in a HSE capacity.
  • Languages: Ability to speak, write and read the English language.
