Equity Analyst

RPO's client is seeking two experienced equity analysts to perform research, analyze, and estimate fair values for companies within the South African and Global equity investment universe. The role involves writing company and sector-specific research reports.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investment research on a range of SA and Global listed companies
• Build detailed discounted cash flow models for each company covered, focusing on the key drivers of the business and incorporating scenario analysis
• Perform in-depth analysis of the competitive advantages and growth prospects of the companies on the coverage list, incorporating qualitative and quantitative factors
• Display initiative and make recommendations based on research conducted
• Write company and sector-specific research reports that incorporate creative insights and a contrarian approach to the market
• Present investment ideas to the investment team
• Undertake any ad hoc requests / proprietary research projects
• Lead the ESG process including proxy voting process
• Lead and coordinate morning meetings
• Attend all investment team research meetings
• Attend company presentations
• Engage with company management
• Communicate, meet, and incorporate management interactions into investment research reports

Requirements

• 4 8 years experience as an equity analyst in a research-driven company
• Experience covering a range of sectors, minimum 2 sectors of the market
• Experience covering Top 40 stocks
• In-depth sector knowledge is an added advantage
• Honours degree in finance or investment
• Minimum of CFA Level 2
• Strong technical and analytical skills
• Strong modeling skills
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English, with the ability to present ideas clearly
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
• Motivated and willing to drive the business
• Willingness to work in a young, growing company
