A well known shipping company is looking for an estimator to perform the following duties:
Key Performance Areas
- Preparing of tenders for shipbuilding and ship repair
- Preparing and updating price lists for ship repair
- Implementing a tender register with all relevant information
- Implementing a tender format so all company tenders are standard
- Ensure that all tenders are going to clients in the format requested by the client. Terms and conditions are read, understood and accounted for in the respective tenders
- Completing proposals, submissions, estimates and big summary sheets
- Identifying and communicating all special requirements on estimates to owners
- Reviewing customer specifications, drawings and technical data
- Developing detailed itemised listing of required work tasks based on review of bid request
- Producing labour, material and subcontractor estimates on projects
- Preparing estimates for Change Orders on new and existing projects
- Working with Project Managers to develop repair or new-build production plans
- Conducting handover meeting for transfer of bid package to Project Managers
- Utilizing historical cost data in order to develop accurate big standards
- Researching and developing new cost standards for work where no historical data exists
- Identifying and resolving ambiguities in specifications or bid packages
