- JOB DESCRIPTION: EVENTS MANAGER
- REPORTING LINE Managing Director
- Managing specialised driven events to revenue and grow brand awareness.
- Managing and planning events from concept to execution for all specialised events, as well as providing assistance for planning media/marketing events.
- Manage 3rd party suppliers in certain instances/when required.
- Network with suppliers to ascertain their requirements per event.
- Build and maintain good relationships with Programming, Forbes Africa and Marketing, and the Bureaus.
- Build relationships by leveraging off the Sales team and Sales Support.
- Researching the most effective and creative way to carry out the event.
- Creating out-of-the-box and original events that demonstrate ABN core concepts.
- Assist with the compiling of proposals for events, which may include timings, venues, suppliers, legal obligations and budgets.
- Assist with the management of event spending to ensure costs do not exceed the budget.
- Identify the target audience, for sales in conjunction with the sales team.
- Meet with the organiser/sponsors ensuring that the planning of the event is done within agreed time constraints.
- Identify, negotiate and manage significant strategic partnerships, alliances and relationships that support ABN current and emerging directions.
- Ensure all event contractual obligations are met.
- Ensure that insurance, legal and health and safety obligations are followed.
- Managing the operational activities of the event co-ordinators.
- Carry out any other function or duty as directed by the Managing Director.
- Problem-solving and management through stressful situations.
- Project management, timelines, and task management.
- Registration and communications best practices (experience with event registration platforms.
- Facilities management, audio-visual, room layouts and design.
- Production, staging, and on-site execution.
- Menu planning and design.
- Vendor sourcing and management.
- Contracting, negotiations, and compliance.
- Risk assessment and management (emergency planning).
- Evaluations, reporting and analysis.
- Leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
- Written and oral communications skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Office.
- Understanding of social media in event settings.
- Time Commitment: full time; travel will be included; long days and some weekends are expected.
- Willingness to work additional hours when required.
