Overview
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Executive Social Media Manager to lead the digital presence and personal brand of a senior GIC executive. This role is key to positioning the executive as a credible voice and thought leader in the infrastructure and construction industry through consistent, engaging, and high-quality content across digital platforms.
The ideal candidate is a sharp content creator and strategic thinker who can produce compelling multimedia content - photos, videos, and written copy - on the go. The role requires someone with excellent English writing skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. It is hands-on, creative, and part of a growing team with clear potential for growth.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media & Digital Brand Management
- Manage the executives social media platforms (e.g. LinkedIn, Instagram, and others).
- Build and maintain a forward-looking content calendar aligned with strategic objectives.
- Create and publish social-first contentvideos, imagery, and copyaligned with the executives voice and values.
- Monitor and manage audience engagement, responding to relevant comments and messages.
Content Strategy & Execution
- Develop and implement a digital content strategy to position the executive as a sector thought leader.
- Write and edit opinion pieces, short articles, speeches, blogs, and video scripts.
- Ensure all content reflects strong written English and maintains tone consistency.
- Repurpose content effectively across platforms to maximise visibility and engagement.
On-the-Move Content Creation
- Travel with the executive as needed to document events, appearances, and interactions on a case-by-case basis.
- Capture real-time, high-quality visuals and videos for social media use.
- Work with speed and flexibility in diverse, on-the-ground settings.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Coordinate with the executives office, marketing, PR, and design teams.
- Engage with external partners including media, influencers, and content collaborators as required.
- Ensure alignment between personal digital presence and broader corporate messaging.
- Track and report on social media analytics and audience engagement metrics.
- Use data insights to adjust strategy and improve content performance over time.
- 36 years' experience in social media management, executive communications, or content strategy.
- Excellent command of written English, with strong editing and storytelling skills.
- Proven ability to shoot, edit, and publish photo and video content independently.
- Solid grasp of social media trends, digital platforms, and analytics tools.
- Comfortable working under pressure and adapting quickly to changing priorities.
- Confident engaging senior stakeholders and representing a high-level brand.
- Must reside in Gauteng, preferably in Centurion, Pretoria, Midrand or Johannesburg.
- Proficiency in multiple South African languages, such as Afrikaans, Setswana, isiZulu, etc.
- Experience working with high-profile individuals or senior leaders.
- Background in public relations, journalism, or digital media production.
