Your Purpose
The Finance Manager is responsible for the effective financial management of MSC Cruises South Africa, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with MSC Group financial standards. The role oversees financial reporting, budgeting, taxation, internal controls, and treasury functions, providing strategic and operational financial support to the business.
Your Impact
Key Accountabilities
Financial Reporting & Control
- Leads the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and MSC Group guidelines.
- Ensures timely month-end closing, journal reviews, reconciliations, and account accuracy.
- Maintains robust internal financial controls and ensures full compliance with global policies.
- Coordinates the annual budget cycle, rolling forecasts, and long-term planning.
- Provides analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making and business performance management.
- Oversees cash flow planning, liquidity management, and banking relationships.
- Ensures effective controls over payments, receipts, and banking processes.
- Ensures compliance with South African statutory requirements, including VAT, PAYE, Corporate Tax, and related submissions.
- Coordinates internal and external audits and ensures alignment with regulatory standards.
- Provides financial analysis to support commercial initiatives, pricing, promotions, and operational efficiency.
- Supports departmental heads by providing cost analysis, financial modelling, and performance insights.
- Works with HR and payroll service providers to ensure accurate and compliant monthly payroll processing.
- Ensures correct application of statutory deductions, benefits, incentives, and commission structures.
- Manages, coaches, and develops the finance team to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Promotes a culture of accuracy, responsibility, and continuous improvement.
- Acts as a key finance liaison with MSC Cruises Geneva, ensuring alignment with reporting requirements, deadlines, and group policies.
Your Essentials
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Professional certification (CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA) advantageous.
- At least 5 years' experience in financial management or financial accounting.
- Travel, tourism, cruise, shipping, or hospitality industry experience beneficial.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
Technical Competencies
- Strong financial reporting and analytical capability.
- Excellent knowledge of IFRS and South African corporate tax requirements.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting/ERP systems.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Effective communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Occasional travel (local or international) may be required.
- The role requires flexibility during peak periods and critical reporting cycles.
