Financial Manager at Village N Life

We are currently seeking a pro-active and experienced Financial manager.

The role of the Financial Manager is providing financial management and advice to stakeholders of the operating (OPCO) and property (PROPCO) companies, in order to enable them to make sound business decisions. Assume the primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, managing and controlling all financial related activities withing the OPCO and PROPCO. Ensure financial practices and information are in line with company policy and all statutory legislation and regulations.

In addition to the above, the position will also assist the Reporting and Compliance Officer with maintaining compliance with laws and regulations within the group and assist the property asset management function including valuations and maintenance of the permanent files.

Qualifications
  • BCom Accounting degree or equivalent
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience within Accounting or Finance, management experience beneficial
  • Hospitality & Tourism Industry experience beneficial
  • Advanced MS Office knowledge
  • Advanced Financial Accounting Systems knowledge (SAGE Partner or Evolution)
Duties and Responsibilities

Operations
  • Check, verify and release electronic bank payments
  • Ensure all excess funds in OPCO and PROPCO's are identified and transferred to either the bond or Nedcredit facilities on a timeous (weekly) basis.
  • Ensure sufficient funds in current account to release all loaded payments before submitting for second authorisation
  • Ensure the integrity and maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register
  • Ensure procedures are in place for safe keeping of assets
  • Ensure project management protocol is adhered to
  • Review Debtors Age analysis on a monthly basis and highlight issues
  • Review long term tenant payment status for all property apartments and communicating outstanding rentals to the CFO
  • Preparing Customer invoices and ensuring the monthly billing cycle is done accurately and timeously
  • Assist with the follow-up relating to outstanding Debtors as part of the monthly review process
  • Compile the annual budgets and submit for CFO approval
  • Review the budgeted fees and expenses for large variances and resolve prior to the CFO conducting review. Preparation of forecast (Rolling estimate) for the rest of the financial year
  • Preparing the Annual Audit files as per Group Instructions received
  • Compiling the monthly Balance Sheet reconciliation file, to ensure integrity of financial statement line items presented
  • Investigate and respond to audit queries and ensure the audit is completed in an appropriate time frame
  • Assist the Reporting and Compliance Officer with:
  • registration and maintenance with government bodies and regulators
  • statutory record keeping and submissions
  • EEA and BBBEE submissions
  • keeping compliance files of all OPCOs up to date
  • Ensuring compliance with Companies Act, POPI Act, VAT and Income Tax Act
  • Assist with compiling and maintaining property information including historic analysis of rental income, expenses and valuations
  • Assist with property acquisitions and disposals
  • Assist with title deed transfers
  • Responsible for maintaining permanent property files
Managing
  • Manages own teams performance to ensure delivery of the approved finance strategy across designated departments
  • Give regular, comprehensive and constructive feedback to team and conducts their performance appraisals
  • Adjusts management style to get the best from the individuals within the team
  • Delegates work to team members taking into account their capacity, level of skill and exposure to different types of work and complexity; provides clear instructions and direction, with reasonable deadlines
Human Resources
  • Maintain strong working relationships with, and have open and transparent communication between all members of the team
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors to ensure service delivery of high quality
General
  • Support the business as and when ad-hoc financial request come in and provide information that is accurate, of a high standard and delivered within required timeframes
