Strategic and Operational Plan Implementation
  • Develop and ensure the implementation of appropriate policies, business processes and standard operating procedures for the department.
  • Provide strategic direction in respect of the department and participate in the strategic planning processes of the organisation:
  • Provide information for the compilation of the strategic and operational plans for the department.
  • Ensure that budget processes are aligned to strategic planning processes and performance outputs.
  • Provide timely and accurate flow of financial and other operational information necessary for strategic decision making.
  • Review the department's performance and make recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement service delivery improvement programmes.
  • Ensure subordinates within Finance and Risk Services are fully aware of their duties, responsibilities, and performance targets in accordance with the strategic plan.
  • Ensure that there is full compliance by company's Solutions with relevant legislation, policies, and guidelines.
  • Report on the function as required by internal and external stakeholders.
General
  • Proactive working capital management to ensure company meets its financial obligations:
  • Daily cash management decisions.
  • Coordination with collections team to review cash-flow forecasts.
  • Coordinate the financial close process on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis and ensuring the integrity of the GL accounting system.
  • Accountable for reporting with integrity all Statutory and Regulatory financial results for the company.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's policies, reporting requirements, external financial accounting, and regulatory requirements in respect of Financial Reporting (IFRS compliance).
  • Ensure that all relevant tax compliance is maintained for the company, including VAT, provisional tax, and income tax - annual returns.
  • Make objective and appropriate accounting judgments as necessary based on technical advice and expertise in financial reporting.
  • Liaise with the external auditors ensuring an efficient, risk focused audit cycle.
  • Continuously review business processes to identify weaknesses and implement controls.
  • Review of reconciliations to ensure balance sheet integrity.
  • Approve amendments to vendor master data.
  • Manage reserves, shareholder distributions, and long-term loans control.
  • Provide cover and assistance as required for all other roles in the Finance team and assist with Ad-hoc requests from the business.
  • Ensure that the Manual of authority is kept up to date by:
  • Ensuring that authority holders are aware of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Transactions are authorised in accordance with such.
  • Authority delegations are formally recorded and archived.
  • Ensure the integrity of transactions in the ERP systems:
  • Ensure that transactions are properly classified and accounted for.
  • Manual journal entries are properly reviewed and approved.
  • Ensure variances on revenue and cost of sale volumes are followed up and cleared.
  • There is appropriate segregation of duties.
