POSITION INFO:
Our client is a wellestablished industrial/technological company that designs, imports, manufactures, and distributes products to serve a wide market. Their business thrives on precision, innovation, and efficiency.
As the Financial Controller, you will be a core member of the leadership team, reporting to senior executives, and will be responsible for overseeing budgeting and forecasting, tax, customs, financial reporting supporting major capital and operational projects.
You will own the financial integrity of the business and help shape strategic decisions with financial insights and controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the budget & forecasting process: Annual budgets and rolling forecasts. Monitor variance analysis and drive corrective actions.
- Develop and lead a team of Accountants and Finance Clerks.
- Prepare, review and present financial statements (monthly, quarterly, and annual) ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with accounting standards.
- Manage tax compliance: Income tax, VAT, customs duties, and import/export regulations. Ensure that all filings, returns, etc., meet regulatory requirements.
- Oversee customs & trade compliance issues, including duties, tariff classification, and import/export documentation.
- Provide financial oversight for major projects: Costings, ROI analysis, monitoring project budgets, and managing project financial risk.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (operations, manufacturing, logistics, procurement, and senior management) to provide financial insight, cost control, and recommendations.
- Drive continuous improvement in systems, processes, financial control environments.
- Manage external audits and internal audits, and ensure that findings are addressed.
- Prepare monthly management accounts.
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance related.
- SAIPA or SAICA articles.
- Minimum 35 years in a Financial Controller or Finance Manager role.
- Proven background in manufacturing or logistics environments, with hands-on exposure to cost accounting, inventory control, production variances, and supply chain finance.
- Strong command of budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in complex operational settings.
- Solid knowledge of tax compliance, including VAT, income tax, and customs/trade regulations.
- Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements under applicable accounting standards.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for both financial and non-financial audiences.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and strong Excel skills.
- Strong analytical skills and an unwavering attention to detail.
- Comfortable operating under pressure and meeting tight deadlines without compromising on accuracy or quality.
