Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Manager Airfield Services, and will be responsible but not limited to the following:
- Ensure compliance to aviation legislative requirements (CAA Civil Aviation Authority, ICAO International Civil Aviation Organization, and Municipal by laws).
- Ensure the buildings comply with legislation, signage, escape routes, fire extinguishers, hose reels as per SANS.
- Analysis of current systems and improvement thereof where required.
- Ensure regular site visits and inspections with staff.
- Conduct training on fire prevention.
- Develop and maintain a fire prevention plan.
- Develop and implement a stakeholder auditing system.
- Conduct SANS (South African National Standards) audits and building evacuations.
- Ensure that all fire equipment is serviceable.
- Build, support and maintain healthy diverse internal (peers, unions, team) as well as external (service providers etc.) relationships and implement remedial actions where required to ensure achievement of organisational goals and enhance emergency response preparedness.
- Maintain appropriate level of interaction with airport stakeholders.
The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such will be required:
- National Senior Certificate is essential.
- Relevant (Fire Prevention) Diploma is essential.
- 3 years operational experience is essential.

- Detailed knowledge of Airside, Landside and Terminal Operations.
