An exciting opportunity exists at King Phalo Airport for experienced Fire Prevention Officer within the Airport Management Division.
Key Performance Output
The successful candidate, reporting to the Manager Airfield Services will be responsible but not limited to the following:
- Ensure compliance to aviation legislative requirements (CAA Civil Aviation Authority, ICAO International Civil Aviation Organization, and Municipal by laws).
- Ensure the buildings comply with legislation, signage, escape routes, fire extinguishers, hose reels as per SANS
- Analysis of current systems and improvement thereof where required.
- Ensure regular site visits and inspections with staff
- Conduct training on fire prevention
- Develop and maintain a fire prevention plan
- Ensure that all fire equipment is serviceable.
- Produce monthly reports on Fire Prevention status
- Build, support and maintain healthy diverse internal (peers, unions, team) as well as external (service providers etc.) relationships and implement remedial actions where required to ensure achievement of organisational goals and enhance emergency response preparedness.
- Maintain appropriate level of interaction with airport stakeholders
The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such will be required:
- Diploma in Fire Prevention (Relevant Field) is Essential
- 3 years Operational in Fire and Rescue is Essential
- Knowledge SANS 0400
- Drivers Licence Code EC, Articulated Heavy Vehicle
- Fire Prevention Strategies is Recommended
- Fundamentals of Fire Investigation
- Advance Fire investigation Techniques
