Job Description
A Waitress is responsible for serving guests in our restaurant setting. This includes greeting customers, taking food and beverage orders, ensuring timely delivery of orders, and providing an excellent overall dining experience. The ideal candidate will have a friendly, outgoing disposition and previous experience working as a server in a bustling, fast-paced restaurant setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers upon arrival, guide them through the menu, answer questions, and make suggestions based on their preferences.
- Take accurate food and drink orders using order slips or by memorization.
- Check food and beverages for quality and presentation before serving to customers.
- Serve food and drink orders to customers quickly and efficiently.
- Interact with customers by introducing daily specials, offering samples, and suggesting food and beverage pairings.
- Handle complaints from clients professionally and efficiently, escalating to management when necessary.
- Regularly check on dining customers to ensure satisfaction and address additional needs.
- Clear tables and prepare them for the next customers.
- Adhere to all relevant health department rules and regulations.
- Collaborate with kitchen and bar staff for order accuracy and serving etiquette.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Proven work experience as a Waitress or similar role in the hospitality industry.
- Hands-on experience with cash handling and ordering information system (e.g., Revel POS or Toast POS), a plus.
- Basic math skills and attentiveness to handle cash and financial transactions accurately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Physical stamina and mobility to carry heavy trays and stand for long hours.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under stressful situations.
- Knowledge of sanitation and safety guidelines.
- Availability to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- A valid food handlers certificate may be required.
- Experience in an upscale or fine dining establishment.
- Knowledge of a second language is a plus.
- Familiarity with pairing food and wine.
- Good organizational and team working skills.
