General Manager: Home Broadband

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job:
General Manager: Home Broadband role is part of the Group Consumer Business Division at MTN Group.

General Manager: Home Broadband will be responsible for the entire home portfolio of products & services (Mobile Broadband, Fixed Wireless Access, Fibre to the Home) for a series of different consumer targets, that maximizes revenue, reduces churn, and drives long-term engagement (i.e.: tenure) with customers.

The home portfolio will be managed through coverage planning & deployment, Go-To-Market, proposition, and capability improvements & roadmap. Will also be responsible for business planning, setting policies, frameworks, budget management, performance maximization to meet overall strategic objectives.

General Manager: Home Broadband contributes to the development of the Consumer Business strategy by providing strategic thought leadership, product design, propositions, strategy & future capability investments driven through deep insights into the MTN customer base and the markets.

General Manager: Home Broadband will review the MTN Group Home strategy and assess requirements to operate effectively and meet set targets, as well as develop budget for home operations and build a clear and coherent Customer & Competitor Knowledge to provide an understanding to the business and leverage the intelligence to develop value adding initiatives to support MTNs goals & revenue objectives.

General Manager: Home Broadband reports to the Executive: Home & Global Value Propositions and is supported by a Senior Manager. S/he will interface with Opco stakeholders, Group Management Service stakeholders, consumer, technical & finance divisional heads to ensure effective & efficient operations.

General Manager: Home Broadband will be responsible to achieve the following objectives:
  • End to end management of MTN branded consumer 4G / 5G / Fixed Wireless / Fibre Internet products and associated propositions and bundling of TV and other content products.
  • Support delivery of overall home P&L performance in line with annual operating plan.
  • Develop strategies and provide strategic thought leadership, product design, propositions, and future capability investments driven through deep insights into the MTN customer base and the market and which bring the MTN brand to life.
  • Managing ongoing product development and feature implementation for the portfolio
  • Developing and maintaining effective proposition road maps and strategies including product pricing and promotional offers with key focus on profitability of the portfolio.
  • Development of the associated product roadmap as a key part of the wider integrated home roadmap, including innovative new home products & services across different technologies.
  • Work with the devices team & clearly provide requirements to ensure there is a competitive device roadmap and implementation plan that meets growth, experience & cost targets.
  • Work with the Networks team to ensure tight management of network experience and cost that delivers to MTN NPS and cost targets.
  • Build the Customer Insights capability to understand and track consumer behaviour, market development and competitor activities.
  • Navigating a complex and fast-moving technology landscape to harness technology opportunities and steer away from threats.
  • Develop internal operational forums and liaison with suppliers and vendors.
  • Ensuring that the product plans comply with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring alignment in the Go to Market governance model working closely with the S&D team and deliver tollgate requirements which result in excellent execution into market.
Key Accountabilities
  • Manage the home product and customer propositions which deliver P&L performance and drive customer acquisition, retention, and advocacy.
  • Definition & execution of multi-year product strategy & roadmaps, including product retirements.
  • Support the development of marketing specification for new product ideas.
  • Function as business owner on key projects and ensure projects delivered on time and on budget.
  • Develop new products & propositions for the Home - Identify, develop, drive commercialization of innovative, high value/high potential, new products, propositions, and services.
  • Support Home device strategy - Ensure business requirements are clear & objectives achieved, superior customer experience delivered with strong collaboration with Devices team.
  • Support Management, forecasting (via Finance team) and reporting of targets and monthly commentary on reporting of KPIs.
  • Financial-management (with Finance team) - Support management product P&L including pricing recommendations to maintain product profitability. Understand the key product drivers, cost framework and how they are tracking.
  • People Leadership & Team Development - Engaging and leading cross functional teams.
  • Promote a high-performance culture.
4. Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of 4-year tertiary qualification in Business / Marketing / Economics / Engineering / IT / Degree
  • Post graduate qualification.
  • MBA or Masters in relevant field of study (Preferred)
  • 5 - 8 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience working in a global/multinational enterprise (understanding emerging markets advantageous)
  • Senior management track record of 5 years or more; with at least 3 years in relevant sector/ industry as per relevant role
  • Experience in leading change / transformation (Marketing)
  • Experience in continuous improvement through the implementation of best practices (Marketing)
  • Experience in Marketing leading practices and trends
