Role Summary
Thavha Services seeks a highly analytical and operationally strong Financial Manager to lead and professionalise its financial operations across multidisciplinary engineering and construction projects. Reporting to the Managing Director, this role will be instrumental in embedding cost discipline, forecasting accuracy, and capital planning capabilities to enable business growth, investor engagement, and operational efficiency. Lead a multi-tiered finance function and lay the foundation for a scalable financial governance framework across the group.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for all company projects and group functions.
- Oversee project-level financial control, including costing, cash flow forecasting, billing cycles, and margin tracking.
- Establish and maintain monthly, quarterly reporting cycles, dashboards, and board pack development.
- Manage the companys liquidity profile, ensuring rolling cash flow accuracy, working capital optimisation, and bank relationship management.
- Ensure full compliance with IFRS, Companies Act, and SARS statutory requirements.
- Prepare and coordinate annual audit processes, financial statement preparation, and tax compliance (VAT, PAYE, provisional tax).
- Own the configuration and enhancement of Sage Evolution or equivalent ERP for job costing and project analysis.
- Drive the implementation of automated reporting tools (Excel, Power BI) and business performance dashboards.
- Build and maintain the internal Delegation of Authority (DOA), risk registers, and control matrices.
- Support project bids, joint-venture structuring, and financial modelling for client or lender submissions.
- Assist in preparing funding models for capital projects and assess project IRR, NPV, and ROCE for investment cases.
- Support the implementation of tax planning and compliance strategies, including asset depreciation, capital allowances, and ring-fencing.
- Mentor, coach, and manage a growing finance team and prepare for future Treasury, FP&A, and Compliance roles.
- Contribute to business strategy through capital structuring, cost control, and profitability optimisation.
- Minimum: BCom in Accounting / Finance; SAICA articles completed or CIMA part-qualified.
- Preferred: CA(SA) / CGMA / SAIPA AGA; Postgrad Diploma in Project Finance or Tax.
- 5+ years experience in finance roles within construction, EPCM, mining services, or industrial infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience managing large project budgets, ERP implementation, and compliance across multiple entities.
- Strong financial modelling and analytical capability (NPV, IRR, sensitivity analysis).
- Proven experience working across multidisciplinary teams and external partners including banks, auditors, and JV stakeholders.
