Call for Applications: Heads of Nodes
The National Institute for Theoretical and Computational Sciences (NITheCS) seeks dynamic and visionary individuals to lead its five Nodes. These roles are critical for embedding NITheCS within their respective institutions and aligning Node activities with the broader vision and mission of NITheCS.
The Heads of Nodes will work closely with the NITheCS Director to ensure that their Nodes contribute effectively to the Institutes goals, fostering excellence in multidisciplinary and multi-themed research, training, and engagement.
Brief Description
Key Responsibilities
The Head of Node will:
- Align the Node with the vision and mission of NITheCS, promoting its multidisciplinary and multi-themed character.
- Provide local leadership, visibility, and representation for NITheCS.
- Facilitate the presence of NITheCS within their institution, including branding, identity, and engagement activities.
- Oversee the local implementation of NITheCSs strategic objectives.
- Organise and coordinate the activities of the Nodes branches, ensuring their involvement in
- NITheCS initiatives and integrating them into the Institutes broader activities.
- Ensure effective local engagement, monitoring, evaluation, and accountability.
Candidates must:
- Be NITheCS Associates based at the respective Node (UCT, WITS, UKZN, NMU, NWU) where they are applying.
- Demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to represent NITheCS effectively within their institution and beyond.
- Have a strong understanding of multidisciplinary and multi-themed research.
Heads of Nodes will be appointed for a fixed term as determined by institutional processes. While their primary affiliation remains with their institution, they will report to the NITheCS Director on matters related to NITheCS activities and operations.
