The Head of Human Resources will be an experienced and dynamic generalist HR Manager able to lead the people function across 4 business units, driving impactful HR strategies aligned with broader business objectives. This is a hands-on, senior role for an operationally orientated HR professional who thrives in fast-paced, complex environments and is passionate about building a culture that empowers employees and supports organisational growth.
In this role, you will be responsible for the development and execution of the People Strategy, providing high-quality HR support and guidance across the business. You will foster a positive, motivated, and development-oriented work environment while leading a high-performing HR team. Your responsibilities will span talent and succession planning, employee engagement, organisational design, and cross-functional alignment across business units.
You will manage the end-to-end recruitment process, oversee training and development initiatives, and drive performance and talent management, including succession planning and the creation of individual development plans. A strong focus will be placed on employee relations, labour law compliance, and effective union engagement. You will play a key role in wage negotiations and represent the company at the CCMA when required. Additionally, youll ensure compliance with Employment Equity legislation, lead HR audits, and deliver accurate reporting to internal and external stakeholders such as the SETA and Department of Labour.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills and a passion for cultivating inclusive, positive work environments. You must be an excellent communicator with the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation. A strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, will be key to success in this role. Attention to detail, organisational skills, and proficiency in MS Office are essential.
Qualifications and essential experience:
Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Organisational Psychology, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years experience in senior HR management roles.
Proven success in executing HR strategies that support business performance and cultural transformation.
Experience leading HR teams across multiple sites or business units.
Solid understanding of labour legislation including BCEA, LRA, EEA, and SDA.
Proven experience in employee relations, union negotiations, and CCMA representation.
Experience in the FMCG Foods manufacturing industry is required.
Valid drivers license and own transport; willingness to travel country-wide for business at least 7-10 days a month.
