Head of Social Performance

As a result, governing frameworks have been established to ensure the level of social performance and sustainability. This role ensures an integrated approach is taken to our social risks and impacts and the framework and system is followed.

Job Description

To shape the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of frameworks and systems that support operation units and other departments with guidance on social performance related issues, including reporting thereof internally and externally. Linked with this is the work to integrate the Social Performance teams across sites and between Group, BU and sites.

Key Task:

• Create a culture where safety, health and environment for the team is paramount.
• Integrate Corporate Affairs business activities across operations and identify and leverage potential synergies.
• Conduct BU level assessment of most significant social impacts across the operations and key management measures to address these (including human rights impacts).
• Inform, engage, persuade and influence at Board level.
• Be a clear, articulate, concise and persuasive communicator (in writing and in person) across both internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage community trusts across AAP to ensure proper governance of the Trust and proper utilisation of the funds to benefit communities.
• Guide management of community issues, project Alchemy & social plans impacting AAP, reporting regularly to PMC and OpsCo.

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng in Social and development sciences, Mining, Metallurgy or Engineering.
• BCom, MBA or other financial / commercial qualification would be advantageous.
• Minimum of 10 years experience in operations / management in the mining or similar industry.
• Operate at senior level in the field of social performance management.
• Experience of developing and delivering strategies in a professional practice area
• Experience of planning and delivering systematic change to a professional practice area, including the development of management systems and related assurance processes
• Shapes relationships with governments, communities and society in cohesive manner
• Help with company be perceived as engaged, responsive and constructive in addressing social issues at a local and global level.
• Proactively set out social performance strategy to campaign actively on certain issues.
