Minimum Requirements:
- 5 10 years experience
- Health and safety qualifications (National Diploma or NQF Level 6)
- Develop, implement, and maintain the projects Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) plan in line with the OHS Act and SANS electrical safety standards.
- Prepare and update project-specific risk assessments, method statements, emergency procedures, and safe work instructions.
- Ensure all SHEQ documentation (permits, registers, inspections) is completed, filed, and compliant.
- Conduct daily site inspections during the servicing of MV switchgear, transformers, generators, and LV distribution boards.
- Identify potential hazards related to high-voltage work, arc flash risks, lifting operations, confined spaces, and energized systems.
- Ensure housekeeping, access control, and site layout adhere to SHEQ requirements.
- Conduct site-specific safety inductions for all workers, subcontractors, and visitors.
- Lead toolbox talks focusing on MV/LV electrical risks, arc flash protection, generator safety, and transformer servicing hazards.
- Ensure workers are trained and certified for tasks such as high-voltage authorization, working at heights, and first aid.
- Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Report near misses, hazards, and non-compliances promptly and accurately.
