Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company’s Occupational Health and Safety Management System in compliance with national legislation and international best practices.

Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and ensure effective hazard identification, mitigation, and monitoring across smelting, refining, and mineral processing plants.

Lead health and safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations; prepare detailed reports and drive corrective action implementation.

Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act), and related industry regulations.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to safety officers and operational teams to foster a proactive safety culture.

Liaise with regulatory bodies, unions, and other stakeholders on occupational health and safety matters.

Oversee occupational hygiene monitoring programs and coordinate with occupational medical practitioners where required.
Minimum Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in occupational health and safety management within smelting, refining, or mineral processing operations.

In-depth understanding of metallurgical processes, associated hazards, and safety control measures.

Strong knowledge of MHSA, OHS Act, ISO 45001, and related standards.

Demonstrated experience in risk management, incident investigation, and emergency response planning.

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Professional certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or equivalent) will be an advantage.
