Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Officer

An exciting opportunity has become available at Bilionetworks, a leading ICT company specializing in fibre installations, LAN cabling, and alternative energy solutions, based in Parklands, Table View.

We are looking for a Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Officer who is disciplined, reliable, and able to lead by example. The person in this role must be able to take ownership, remain calm under pressure and uphold the highest standards of safety and integrity, even when it is difficult or inconvenient to do so.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

• Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
• A relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) qualification or certification.
• Professional registration with the South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (SAIOSH) as a Technical Member (TechSaiosh) or higher with proof of validity.
• A valid Code 08 drivers licence.
• A minimum of five (5) years experience in a similar Health and Safety Officer role.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and reporting skills.
• Candidates must, at a minimum, possess practical experience within the industry.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with company, client, and legislative health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Maintain and update all Health and Safety documentation, including physical files and digital records.
• Conduct thorough and honest investigations of incidents, ensuring accurate root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
• Prepare and submit all Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA) documentation and related statutory reports.
• Ensure accurate reporting of site inspections, incident investigations, and safety audits.
• Achieve and maintain a minimum 95% Health and Safety audit score across all operational sites.
• Implement and oversee effective traffic management practices on sites to reduce risk and improve operational safety.
• Attend and participate actively in all Safety and Project Kick-off meetings.
• Drive initiatives that reduce time-loss injuries and promote a proactive, responsible safety culture.
• Provide clear and consistent safety updates to internal and external stakeholders.
• Support, guide, and monitor all Bilionetworks teams and sub-contractors to ensure full compliance with company Health and Safety standards.
