Senior Principal IT Solution Architect - Specialised HCM

The Senior Principle IT Solution Architect has cross domain level knowledge and is accountable for creating integrated solutions and will collaborate and support the architectural consulting function in architecting client solutions. Their primary objective is to ensure the optimal functioning of an entitys IT application software and infrastructure by outlining complex solution architecture descriptions across domains, functions and industries, then monitoring and governing the implementation.

The Senior Principle IT Solution Architect designs a complete and complex framework, system or product. Defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceives system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses. Influences the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provides multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert multi-technology advice to internal clients, analysing and providing strategies and solutions on all aspects of application software, infrastructure and related technology components.
  • Advise and execute on the best design for information technology architectures.
  • Designs and communicates high level structure to enable and guide the design and development of integrated solutions that meet current and future business needs.
  • Use client business requirements to advise on the design, deployment and operation of application infrastructures.
  • Create designs that provide holistic views, but also contain the details of the components and interconnections between components.
  • Involved with projects at the time of inception and is involved along with the project manager in the planning and governance of projects and the functional analysis (FA) of developing the initial requirements.
  • Contribute advice on improving methodology frameworks.
  • Manage the proof of concept (POC) initiatives.
  • Researches and investigates emerging infrastructure technologies and the best practices associated with these trends.
  • Contribute to the improvement of internal effectiveness by contributing to improving current methodologies, processes and tools.

  • Facilitate a consultative approach with Business Domain owners to gather and document requirements, align to though leadership and best practice, to produce innovative digital business solution architecture and related domain roadmap and program direction
  • Use concurrent-transformation as an approach to combine internal and external knowledge and skills in the domain area, to create a vision of future solutions, aligned to clear business outcomes and metrics, and present this via communication forums that create buy-in and joint aligned commitment to the strategy
  • Expert in Enterprise and Solution Architecture principles and practices
  • Excellent Executive communication and presentation skills, with experience dealing with business groups and all levels of the organization; and self sufficient in the development of Executive Communication materials, for presentation to C-Level
  • Ability to explain complex technical solutions to audiences at different technical knowledge
  • Proficiency in English

  • Technology Depth and Breadth within your domain and across domain integration areas:
  • Proficiency applications in Payroll and Advanced HCM solutions, plus integration to ERP, Salesforce, ITSM/Service Now; BTP/RPA technologies and Cloud solutions in HCM (eg Fieldglass, EPM),
  • In depth experience of the design and configuration of IT solutions
  • Ability to construct solutions using their expertise of more of the functions offerings
  • Expert knowledge on multi-technology software, OSs and infrastructure design best practices in a variety of hardware platforms including mainframes, distributed platforms, desktops, and mobile devices
  • Deep knowledge of reference architectures
  • Good knowledge of project management principles
  • Knowledge of vendor roadmaps, new developments and new product offerings
  • Analytical in their approach
  • Display the required interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to share and communicate ideas clearly, both orally and in writing, to executive staff, business sponsors, and technical resources in clear concise language
Academic Qualifications and Certifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology or related field of study
  • TOGAF / COBIT or related certification
  • Scaled Agile certification would be preferred
Required Experience:
  • 15+ years of strong hands-on experience HCM Application architect, with proven experience in delivering large scale SaaS/PaaS/API/Microservice architecture based innovative digital applications
  • Experience in HCM solution architecture, with strong integration to core ERP solution delivery
  • Hands-on experience in multiple end-to-end HCM Hybrid Cloud project implementations
Experience with projects through the software development process or Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Demonstrable experience working as a solution architect in a global IT services provider organisation

Scope of Role:

Specialised HCM applications [ie Payroll; Time & Attendance; Personel cost planning/capacity mgt; Contingent labour mgt, Compensation & Benefits integration [alignment to SPM/Commisions in the Sales and Finance domains working with the ERP Integration Director],

Objective of Role:

Define a clear Digital-Solution Cloud Architecture that supports the Business IT-Capability requirements in a fit-to-standard, Multi-component design to reduce overall total cost/complexity of applications, and support revenue and margin/profitability growth, optimized resource allocation and return on working capital, and capital investment.

You will focus on:
  • Digital Business Solution Architecture for Specialised HCM Applications, supporting the HCM Centers of Excellence
  • Common-information-design eg Payroll and Financial Analysis of People Resources (i.e HCM Total Cost analytics and related reporting dimensions and measures]
  • Ensure that Digital Business Process in HCM are supported by hybrid cloud solution components according to Fit-to-Standard Best Practice, targeting lowest TCO, and using creative problem solving to ensure that functional requirements are met and service qualities (Performance, scalability, extensibility, Security etc) for the future are achievable.
  • Support the Design, build and implementation of conceptual and logical data models and support the Master Data Governance team in the building of solutions in the HCM domain
  • Work with enterprise architects to define how the proposed solution components will fit into the enterprise data architecture, defining clear Release-Roadmap that improve on existing solutions, use of new technologies and methodologies to seek continual improvement for existing systems.
  • Design, coordinate and execute prototypes/POC, to validate new solutions, tools and methods
  • Mentor and assist the delivery team across development and implementation the life cycle
  • Continuously evaluate relevant technologies, influence and drive architecture and design discussions
  • Provide Detailed guidance and direction on project work, making sure that new projects fit in with an overall strategic vision
  • Support program and project managers in the design, planning and governance of implementation projects
  • Support the internal or vendor-based Installation and configuration of application

  • Achievement of business outcomes Revenue growth, Margin growth, increase in Client Service coverage, Reduction in T2 applications, Consolidation of T1 applications to achieve lower TCO of IT, Customer feedback
