  • Support the Africa Sustainability Office in the planning and execution of its Purpose beyond Profit and NextGen Council mandate.

Purpose

The internal Africa Sustainability team is looking for a Senior Consultant to be part of our small but impactful team working on advancing the firms Purpose beyond Profit mandate and NextGen Council initiative within Deloitte Africa. NextGen Advisory Council:

It is predicted that Millennials and Gen Zs will make up almost 75% and 25% of the global workforce respectively by 2025. Deloitte Africa has surpassed this global trend, and in 2018, the Deloitte Africa Executive Committee established an Advisory Council comprised of young leaders from across the firm to provide input into strategic executive decisions. This role requires you to provide guidance and steering to the NextGen members and lead on key initiatives outlined below.

The role is ideal for an individual who wants to advance sustainability and a purpose-driven approach through a broad spectrum of interactions and initiatives within a large organization. Combine your passion for and knowledge of sustainability with your project management skills, strong attention to detail, critical thinking ability and communication excellence. No two days will be the same and flexibility and willingness to jump in and do what is needed are essential.

Purpose
  • Support the Purpose team in planning, directing, managing, and coordinating day-to-day business activities, and strategic projects
  • Conduct and compile desktop research to support Purpose projects/ initiatives
  • Compile monthly and quarterly submissions for Executive and Board meetings on behalf of the Purpose team
  • Coordinate, analyse and report on the Purpose beyond Profit Pulse Survey
  • Support ad-hoc requests/ reporting on behalf of the Purpose team
  • Update and maintain the Purpose workplan and strategy documents
  • Coordinate logistics for Purpose team events with event organizers, communicating needs on behalf of the Purpose team
  • Provide secretarial support for internal Purpose governance structures
  • Coordinate logistics for internal Purpose engagements with our people across the firm
  • Project manage the initiatives within the Purpose beyond Project program including co-ordination with key internal stakeholders
NextGen Advisory Council
  • Support the recruitment processes of the annual cohort
  • Advisory role to the Council, providing guidance to achieve intended outcomes
  • Budgeting process to support cohort initiatives and process.
  • Design and support implementation of Africa Millennial and Gen Z Survey

  • Contributes input to team strategy based on area of expertise
  • Supports implementation of strategy plans agreed by leadership of team
  • Based on expertise and experience, advises and supports team leadership in identification and implementation of innovative solutions to issues arising within area of expertise

  • Forms appropriate judgements based on careful analysis to make sound business decisions on issues

Minimum Experience
  • 3-year senior consultant level with experience overseeing multi-stakeholder projects
  • Strong project management experience
  • Strong understanding of the role of business in society
  • Analytical and research experience

  • Experience in project management within a multi-national organisation, engaging with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in internal sustainability/purpose in a large organisation or professional services environment
