Business Development Coordinator - Team North - Life

What will you do?

Job purpose

To provide support and assistance to the Life Investments: National Business Development Manager; Business Development Manager and Jnr Business Development Manager to develop and/or increase Glacier market share of retail investment business in the RSA North for IFA and SFA markets, whilst collaborating with the Glacier platform Business Development Consultants and relevant SanlamConnect distribution channels. Will be responsible for contribution to the regional, provincial, and national distribution and sales strategy.

Knowledge and education
  • Training of the Glacier platform Business Development Consultants (BDCs), SanlamConnect Sales Support Assistants (SSAs), Intermediaries Assistants / Office Personnel as well as Intermediaries on Glacier Life Investments and platform products, processes, procedures, tools, the Life Annuities and Investments quotes package (LAIQs), Sanquote desktop quotes package, Investment Hub, Sanport and the web.
  • Identify training needs to educate and empower the Glacier platform BDCs, SanlamConnect SSAs and Intermediary Assistants / Office Personnel and Intermediaries.
  • Drive Digital engagement with the Glacier platform BDCs, SanlamConnect SSAs, Intermediary Assistants/ Office Personnel and Intermediaries where necessary.
  • Building relationships with the Glacier platform BDCs, SanlamConnect SSAs, Intermediaries and Intermediary Assistants / Office Personnel.
  • Participate and present in National Gear-up with Glacier for the SanlamConnect SSAs.
  • Support the National Business Development Manager, local Business Development Manager as well as Jnr Business Development Manager for Life Investments (Life BDMs) with solving technical queries and complaints by providing the necessary information from the Sanlam systems such as J-Istel, Content Manager and Sanport.
  • Represent Life Investments and support the Regional Operations Manager (North) with any events such as Growing with Glacier and Sharing is caring meetings.
  • Support the Life Investments BDMs with arranging of any events, workshops, summits and training sessions.
  • Supply the Life BDMs with the requested statistics which is drawn from the Business Intelligence system.
Marketing and Sales initiatives
  • Support the Life BDMs in the execution of their functional sales role, tasks and activities
  • Co-ordinate Life BDMs annual marketing budget and Conflict of Interest register
  • Take the Lead to drive marketing campaigns and projects
  • Co-ordinate and manage training functions/events
Targets and inflows
  • Assisting the Life Business Development Managers in servicing Intermediaries in the process reaching monthly inflow targets on Life Investments.
  • Assist where necessary in getting Life Investments cases issued by liaising with the Life new business team.
  • Assisting with Life Investments quotes, proposals and tools.
  • To ensure intermediaries adhere to all regulatory requirements (e.g. FAIS, FICA)
  • Draw and interpret Business Intelligence reports to identify areas of opportunity and improvement
What will make you successful in this role?

Administrative support
  • Attending to office administration (co-ordinating of managers diary, preparing documentation, overall smooth flow of day-to-day tasks)
  • Attending to general day-to-day tasks associated with supporting the Life Business Development Managers when dealing with platform BDCs, SSAs, intermediaries and clients i.r.o
  • Telephone enquiries and written communication
  • Assisting clients/intermediaries with processes & business
  • Distribution of marketing materials (application forms, brochures)
  • Managing the Intermediaries Database
  • Work closely with other BDCs in the team to communicate about panels and distribute tasks accordingly to maximize productivity and know where pressure points are to be addressed.
  • Support the Regional BDC Operational Manager
Qualifications And Experience
  • Relevant financial/ investment qualification
  • At least 3 years experience in a similar role within the investment / collective investment service industry
  • Valid Drivers License and own reliable vehicle
  • MS Office suite (intermediate level)
  • Excel skills are required
  • Knowledge of economic principles, environment and investment products
  • Excellent telephone etiquette
  • Extensive knowledge on the Sanlam systems such as J-Istel, Sanport and Content Manager

Qualification And Experience

Grade 12 with 3 to 4 years related experience.
