Our client is a respected residential property development company based in Ballito, backed by more than 20 years’ experience working with renowned and reputable industry partners. With a strong commitment to improving quality of life, the company specialises in developing and delivering high-end residential dwellings throughout the Durban North region. They currently have a vacancy within their construction team and are seeking to appoint an experienced Residential Construction Supervisor. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the full range of on-site activities, ensuring that all work is completed to the required quality standards, follows approved plans and building regulations, and is delivered within agreed time frames and budgets.
The successful candidate will be expected to plan and coordinate projects from inception to completion, including the scheduling of work, costings and budget management. They will oversee the progress of all construction activities, carry out the setting out of works, prepare weekly programmes, and ensure that site workers and subcontractors complete all tasks on time and to the specified quality standards. In addition, they will be responsible for managing labour and subcontractors, monitoring daily productivity, reviewing ongoing construction work, and ensuring strict adherence to quality control measures. The role further includes overseeing the ordering and delivery of materials and equipment, checking the quality of all materials brought to site, and ensuring that all construction tasks comply with architects’ and engineers’ specifications as well as relevant building regulations.
The Residential Construction Supervisor will also be required to provide daily progress updates, identify and report any issues or delays, and ensure that all council-required building inspections are scheduled and completed. Promoting and maintaining high standards of health and safety is essential, including conducting regular site inspections and ensuring that all workers and subcontractors comply with safety regulations. Regular reporting and feedback to senior management form an integral part of the role.
To be considered for this position, candidates must hold a tertiary diploma or degree in Construction Management or a related field, have a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role, and possess at least two years’ experience working on high-end residential projects.
