Required Experience

Minimum of 8-10 years' progressive experience in contracts management specifically within the civil engineering and construction sectors.
  • Demonstrable track record of managing complex contracts (e.g., FIDIC, NEC, JBCC) for large-scale civil infrastructure projects (e.g., roads, bridges, water/wastewater, earthworks, mining infrastructure).
  • Proven experience in contract drafting, review, negotiation, administration, and dispute resolution.
  • Expertise in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Experience with tender processes, subcontractor management, and claims management.
  • Familiarity with South African construction legal landscape and relevant industry standards (e.g., SANS, CIDB regulations).
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related Built Environment discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Construction Law, Commercial Law, or an MBA will be a distinct advantage.
  • Professional registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa), SACPCMP (South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions), is highly desirable.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for drafting clear contracts, reports, and liaising with diverse stakeholders (clients, legal teams, project managers, contractors).
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to reviewing documents, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring compliance.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactive and effective in troubleshooting contractual issues and developing practical solutions.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with all project participants.
  • Ethical Conduct: Unwavering commitment to professional integrity and ethical practices in all contractual dealings.
  • Time Management & Organization: Ability to manage multiple contracts and deadlines efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
