Reporting to the ownership representative, the General Manager is responsible for the strategic planning and management of all Club operations and facilities, including the golf course, pro shop, food and beverage (F&B), maintenance and the management of employees.
The General Manager oversees the Superintendent, Director of Golf Operations, Executive/Head Chef, Golf Shop Manager, and Events Manager.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the golf course, including maintenance, golf operations, hospitality services, and events
- Supervise department heads (F&B, golf operations, grounds keeping, banquet and events) to ensure coordinated operations
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures to maintain service excellence
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Prepare, manage and monitor annual budgets for all departments
- Track and analyze revenue streams (fees, memberships, pro shop sales, F&B) to identify opportunities for growth
- Approve purchases, control costs, and ensure efficient allocation of resources
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reports for ownership
- Recruit, train, mentor and evaluate staff across all departments
- Conduct regular staff meetings and foster a positive, collaborative work environment
- Ensure proper scheduling and staffing levels for peak and non-peak seasons
- Work with marketing team to promote the facility through advertising, events, and community outreach
- Develop partnerships with local businesses and community organizations
- Oversee tournaments scheduling, corporate outings, and special events to drive revenue
- Maintain course quality and playability
- Oversee clubhouse maintenance, renovations, other projects
- Ensure facilities are clean, safe, and appealing to members and guests
DESIRED PROFILE
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field
- Minimum of 5+ years as a general manager or in a management position at a golf club
- Excellent communications, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in golf management software
- Financial, budgetary and accounting management skills
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage personnel and meet financial targets with proven experience managing financial results
- Ability to build and maintain member relationships
- Strong knowledge of golf industry operations and trends
- Carries inspiring and dynamic leadership and can promote team spirit
- Hardworking with good priority management
- Ability to work under pressure
- Versatility, autonomy and a strong sense of initiative
