Procurement Specialist, Head Office

Main purpose of the job
The Business Support Division will lead innovation, and business and technology services via a shared services model to business operations to enable the optimal use of digitisation, systems and processes to provide new revenue and value-producing opportunities and the achievement of objectives. This will include delivering detailed business analyses, project planning, monitoring and measurement for group-wide business projects and changes; and lead the integration of new and changing processes and systems into operations based on the agreed requirements of the business segments, and insights from specialised support functions.

The Procurement Specialist: F&B as part of the business support team will be responsible for the sourcing, screening and evaluating of suppliers; as well as the negotiation of favourable terms and conditions and supplier contract management in order to find the best deals possible on quality goods that are needed for business operations with the aim of reducing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of business related commodities and supplies for Sun International, in line with Company standards and regulations with the intention of ensuring we continue to create great memories for our guests, people and stakeholders.

This will be achieved through networking and building relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and ensuring alignment of processes to legislation and regulations.

Education and experience
  • 4 Year B Degree in Supply Chain Management / Procurement Management
  • CIPS qualification would be preferred
  • At least 6 years related experience in a similar position, preferably within the Gaming/Hospitality industry.
  • Preferential procurement, strategic sourcing and benchmarking experience.
  • Experience in the use of Qlikview and/or other BI tools for reporting and analysis
  • Experience with IFS ERP would be a distinct advantage.
  • Project management experience would be an advantage

Key Performance Areas
  • Engage with business operations and stakeholders to scope and understand F&B and culinary products and / or service requirements and criteria
  • Research criteria (considering any current products and services) including conducting due diligence around processes, systems and / or technological innovations that might impact the use of these services and products in future operations
  • Research and benchmark Industry trends around new technologies and innovations to ensure Sun International F&B and culinary products, services and processes remain streamlined and cutting edge and in line with the Sun International brand
  • Provide advice and consultation on procurement and purchasing business processes and relationships
  • Manage projects to research the financial viability around specific products; pricing; quality and relevance
  • Source and identify suppliers/products in the field
  • Collaborate with SMEs to develop criteria documents and category plans to benchmark suppliers
  • Invite suppliers to submit proposals in line with criteria
  • Shortlist suppliers in line with criteria viz standards, legislation, BEE status, SLAs, pricing and quality specifications;
  • Provide guidance and follow through on the RFP, tender process and finalisation of selection in line with criteria
  • Liaise with Group legal to ensure all necessary contracts are compiled in line with agreed terms
  • Keep documentation and records of the full sourcing and selection process
  • Develop and communicate Group control standards on process / service requirements with suppliers
  • Conduct an in depth analysis of the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of selected commodities to identify areas for improvement or reduction in costs; any variances, and anomalies, as well as calculate return on investment of current business relationships
  • Make recommendations to reduce Total Cost of Ownership against commodities
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers so as to improve products, services and support; leveraging any opportunities to improve the relationships and reduce spend
  • Elicit new opportunities and leverage relationships with sponsors and suppliers to create shared value, competitive edge and social progress; including partnering with external organisations to support sustainability initiatives relative to F&B and culinary products
  • Be proactive in obtaining feedback from business operations around product performance and services being provided by specific suppliers
  • Maintain regular feedback with relevant suppliers and partners around expectations; requirements, feedback, etc.
  • Present analysis and recommendations to management to influence future products, services and partnerships
  • Register projects in the system and provide reports to business as may be required
  • Align plans with Enterprise Development and procurement transformation strategies which contribute towards BBBEE targets being achieved across the Group
