Job Summary
The business of raising capital for Absa Group results in the risk that covenants contained in the terms and conditions of these transactions may be breached leading to reputation or liquidity risk. The risk arises from across the organization but are largely limited to the Capital Markets Execution (CME) transactions within treasury. These risks cover both financial as well as environmental and social risks. This individual is required to assimilate and monitor these risks, create a dashboard, and manage the covenant reporting. This involves a portion of project management and compliance experience.

Implement (from the ground up) and manage an effective compliance structure for the CME team (including other crossover areas within wider Absa outside of Treasury) :
- Assure compliance with provisions / financial covenants for bond and loan transactions
- Assure compliance with ESG standards / provisions / covenants for bond and loan transactions
- Ensuring compliance with other regulatory and listing agency requirements (SARB, JSE, LSE),
- Engage with senior management to obtain relevant information including a review of covenants agreed to elsewhere in the firm
- Regularly audit company and treasury procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risk.
- Report on an ongoing basis to Treasury management on the companys compliance with provisions / financial covenants / ESG standards
- Bachelors degree in law, finance, business management or a related field.
- Proven experience in a compliance role
- Good knowledge of legal requirements and procedures.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- No less than 3 years in a similar environment
- Highly-analytical with strong attention to detail.
