Join a dynamic curriculum renewal and innovation team as a research assistant in support of the research, monitoring and evaluation processes. The positions would suit self-motivated individuals with a passion for research within the field of health sciences education. The research activities are related to the curriculum redevelopment of the MBBCh, GEMP and other health sciences degrees. This research informs the nature of curriculum changes to be made as well as monitor the outcomes of the changes and the impact this has on the students learning experiences.
The Key Performance Areas For This Position Are
- Research Data Collection and Analysis: Obtain participant consent, administer questionnaires, audit the virtual learning environments, conduct stakeholder interviews, maintain data integrity, and analyse the data as per the study protocol.
- Report Research Findings: Prepare reports on research findings, in collaboration with the team present the findings to key stakeholders and draft sections of research manuscripts.
- Research related administration: Schedule research activities in the parameters of the research plan, communicate with participants and team, monitor and track project rollout.
- Any other responsibilities as assigned the line manager.
Academic qualifications
- A degree in Health Sciences or degree in Education or similar qualification (NQF 7)
- A minimum of 1 year of higher education working experience, mainly engaged in research related to health sciences education.
- Expertise in using data collection and analysis software such as RedCap, MaxQDA etc.
- Presentation of findings in PowerPoint and reporting in Word
- Apply research ethics
- Ability to be self-directed in research rollout and implementation of the protocol
- Communication skills: written and verbal
- Professional behaviour, demonstrating good time management and organization skills
- An Honours degree in Health Sciences or Education related degree or a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences Education completed or in progress.
