The Senior Librarian coordinates and champions high-quality faculty librarian services by evaluating, coaching, providing guidance and support to individual librarians, building the performance and representing the groups operational needs. The incumbent also fulfils standard faculty librarian responsibilities.
The Successful Incumbent Will Be Responsible For The Following
- Assists with planning and implementation of plans for the Learning and Teaching services
- Coordination of Information Services and management of day to day operations and problem solving
- Lead a team of faculty librarians for delivery of a 21st-century information service.
- Communicates within and beyond the library; spearheads the marketing of the faculty librarians programme and activities; representation of the Library at Faculty Board and Faculty Library Committees.
- Compilation of quarterly reports
- Performs Faculty Librarian duties and contributes to the training activities
- Performs other related duties as designated by the Directorate.
Minimum Requirements:(Qualification & Experience):
- B.Bibl Degree or equivalent qualification
- At least a minimum of 6 years relevant experience in an academic library or comparable institutional environment
- Staff supervision experience
- Leadership and Supervisory skills
- Effective planning and organisational ability
- Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to work collegially and collaboratively
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a team environment
- Strong service orientation and effective problem-solving skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Instructional Design and pedagogy skills
