Carter Junior Financial Accountant
Carter is looking for a Junior Financial Accountantto join our dynamic centralised finance team in Melrose, Johannesburg.
The role is within the centralized team who are responsible for the finance function of our BHS dealerships and any other dealerships to be acquired in the future.
Carter is revolutionising the customer journey and experience to make new car buying hassle free and convenient driven by distinctive technology and data.
The role is suited for a motivated, detailed-oriented individual who has good interpersonal skills. The candidate should have good time management, strong problem-solving skills, should be self-driven and have a desire to work in a fast-paced changing environment.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Responsibilities will be for our five BHS dealerships (Renault/Haval, Ford/Mahindra, VW, Nissan/Tata, Chery/ Mitsubishi) and any additional dealerships acquired in the future.
Daily processing of the bank and preparing bank reconciliations
Assist with daily cash account reconciliations
Raising of sundry invoices to external debtors
Daily first review of payments loaded on the bank
Assist with preparation and review of monthly supplier reconciliations
Review of external supplier credit applications
Preparation of month-end debtors and creditors reconciliations where applicable
Preparation of income statement recons and follow ups on all open items and investigations
Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and follow up on open items
Processing of monthly and ad-hoc journals
Ensuring that all accounting accruals, prepaid expenses, and income received in advance transactions are raised timeously and treated in line with IFRS standards
Maintenance of the prepayments schedule and ensuring releases are done timeously
Assist with external audit requests
Assist with monthly parts and vehicles stock counts
Assist junior staff with problem solving
Ensure all financial controls in place operate effectively and raise all instances where controls lapse
Work on reconciliations with historic items to resolve any older and open items
Other responsibilities
Responsible for ad-hoc finance related functions and queries that may arise
Assist with junior staff members responsibilities in their absence
Any additional tasks and responsibilities that may arise due to company growth and changes in processes
The position is a full-time role. Interviews will be held digitally and in person. Only South Africans or individuals with an existing valid South African work permit need apply.
Minimum Requirements
An accounting qualification is required
Candidate must have at least one year working experience in a similar role
Good interpersonal skills and EQ is required
Ability to work independently
