Job Purpose: The Junior Accountant will provide support to the overall finance team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance with all relevant regulations. This role involves managing financial records, preparing financial statements, and assisting with audits and tax filings.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Process bank and credit card reconciliations for the group.
- Assist with the group 13-week cashflow forecast
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end procedures.
- Support various reporting requirements (e.g., Treasury/Reporting/DTI/BBBEE).
- Support audit requests.
- Assist with payroll functions within the group.
- Maintain bank records.
- Manage the group fixed asset register (additions, depreciation, disposal).
- Provide support to various team members within the group.
- Perform filing and record-keeping duties.
- Handle ad hoc duties as requested.
- Minimum NQF Level 6 qualification.
- Understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience with bank reconciliation.
- Basic tax knowledge is advantageous.
- Exposure to group structure and Business Central is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, etc.) are beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated and adaptable to a changing environment.
- Methodical approach and deadline-driven.
